HOMECase Studies – Platform-Wide Logging & Vault Integration

Platform-Wide Logging & Vault Integration

Designed and implemented a unified logging framework and secure secret management system for a global telecom provider, enabling faster debugging, full traceability, and automated secret rotation.

Case Study

Centralized Logging & Secret Management Framework for a Global Telecom Platform

A global telecommunications platform managing high-volume prepaid and top-up systems required a unified approach to logging, observability, and secure secret management across its distributed microservices. Prior to this effort, each service implemented logging and credential handling differently, resulting in inconsistent formats, difficult debugging, and significant security risks.
Vivid Soft designed and implemented a combined centralized logging framework and secure secret management system, strengthening the platform’s reliability, maintainability, and compliance posture.

The Challenge

Multiple architectural and operational gaps in the microservices environment created reliability, observability, and security risks. The main challenges were:

Fragmented Logging

Each microservice produced logs in different formats, with inconsistent verbosity levels and no standardized JSON structure. Cross-service request tracing was nearly impossible due to missing or mismatched correlation IDs.

Lack of End-to-End Observability

Incidents required manually searching through multiple log sources. Debugging production issues could take hours because there was no unified view of requests flowing through multiple services.

Security & Credential Risks

Secrets such as database credentials, API keys, and tokens were:

No Standardization or Governance

Without a unified standard, developers implemented logging and error handling ad-hoc, creating inconsistencies and increasing onboarding complexity.

Our Approach

Our Solution

Vivid Soft delivered a comprehensive engineering solution composed of two major components: a centralized logging framework and a secure secret management system, both designed to integrate seamlessly into the existing microservices.

Centralized Logging Framework

A reusable, drop-in library for all microservices.

Key Features :

Observability Integration

Logs were routed to existing tools such as:

This provided instant improvements in:

Secret Management System

We implemented a secure, automated secret management system using HashiCorp Vault, eliminating hardcoded credentials across all services.
